Pregnancy is an amazing time for expectant mothers. It’s a time of excitement, anticipation, and awe as women carry a tiny life inside their womb for nine months. The growth and development of a baby in the womb is nothing short of miraculous, and a recent photo shared by Kristen DiCicco Rogers from Massachusetts has given us a glimpse into just how remarkable this process is.
The photo, shows Kristen’s daughter Emma, who was born in the breech position with her feet up next to her ears. In the picture, Emma appears to be folded in half, which is a sight to behold.
Kristen’s Pregnancy Journey
Kristen had what she called a “dream pregnancy.” She was never sick, tired, or uncomfortable and enjoyed every moment of her pregnancy. However, at around 34 weeks, during a routine appointment, Kristen discovered that she had low fluid and a breech baby girl.
Kristen tried everything she could to get her baby to turn, from “Spinning Babies” to acupuncture, but nothing worked. Her doctor then scheduled a c-section for 39 weeks. Fortunately, the c-section went smoothly, and Kristen had a healthy baby in her arms.
Kristen’s husband had his camera ready to go immediately after Emma was born, and he captured the remarkable photo of their daughter folded in half. The doctors said she seemed fine, but they would have to examine her hips soon to make sure she had no hip dysplasia.
Thankfully, Emma had no hip issues, and Kristen said that she can’t quite remember how long Emma kept her legs in the breech position, but it was just shy of two months before she wanted to stretch out.
Kristen’s Reflections
Reflecting on her pregnancy, Kristen said that she feels bad that her sweet girl was stuck in such an uncomfortable position while growing and developing in her belly. However, Emma is now a happy and healthy girl, and Kristen is currently 23 weeks along with a boy.
Kristen worries about having another breech baby, but if possible, she plans to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).
The Miracle of Life
The growth and development of a baby in the womb are truly miraculous. From the moment of conception to the moment of birth, the body goes through a remarkable process of change and adaptation. For most women, pregnancy is a time of joy, but for some, it can also be a time of stress and uncertainty.
Kristen’s story is a reminder that every pregnancy is different, and sometimes things don’t go as planned. However, with modern medicine and the support of loved ones, most women are able to give birth to healthy babies.
